The World Ice Art Championship
Day
1:
Arrive in Fairbanks and overnight at Pikes Waterfront Lodge. Airport transfers
included. We’ll meet you this evening for a pre trip orientation and
if you’re in the mood a night time tour of the Ice Carvings, our favorite
time to see them due to illuminating lights under the ice. We provide lodging.
Day 2:
We’ll spend today exploring Fairbanks. Chose from Ice Sculptures
by day, an exceptional museum at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the
sled dog sprint race, and a musk ox farm. In the afternoon we’ll
drive 2 hours to Chena Hot Springs for a relaxing evening looking for
the Northern Lights in the warm outdoor pools. An evening workshop on
capturing the Northern Lights on film by a professional photographer will
be offered. Overnight in a deluxe cabin next to the springs!
Day 3:
Relax and enjoy the hot springs. Options for today include dog sled rides,
snow shoeing, sleigh rides, ice skating, cross country skiing, snow machine
rides as well as simply relaxing in the warm outdoor pools of the natural
springs. Overnight in a deluxe cabin at the Hot Springs.
Day 4:
After a relaxing morning you’ll depart for Denali National Park,
a 4-hour drive. Along the way you’ll stop for lunch at the historic
Chatanega Lodge and tour a turn of the century gold dredge if you wish.
You will also have an opportunity to take a dog sled ride! Overnight at
a deluxe Bed and Breakfast near Denali National Park.
Day
5:
Today we’ll explore Denali National Park. Snow shoeing, photographing
Denali and touring the visitor’s center will be the highlights for
today. This evening we will drive 2 hours to Fairbanks for another stay
at Pikes Waterfront Lodge and another round of Ice Sculptures at night,
which is our favorite time to enjoy them!
Day
6:
Return home with a lifetime of great memories of spring in Alaska!
